Description
Old World Cotton, New World Values
Kala Cotton is one of the few genetically pure, non-GMO cotton species remaining in the world. Native to the arid landscapes of Kutch, it is a “rain-fed” crop, meaning it grows naturally without the need for pesticides or massive irrigation systems. It is, quite literally, nurtured by the clouds.
The Hand-Woven Difference
Unlike mass-produced, factory-thinned cotton, Kala Cotton is:
• Artisanal: Hand-spun and hand-woven, giving it a unique, slightly structural “earthy” texture.
• Breathable: Its porous nature makes it incredibly cool in summers and cozy in winters.
• Honest: Each “slub” or tiny irregularity in the weave is a signature of the human hand, ensuring that no two kurtis are ever exactly the same.
When you wear a Woven Traditions Kala Cotton Kurti, you aren’t just wearing a garment, you’re supporting a sustainable ecosystem of farmers, weavers, and Chikankari artisans.
